PERFECT TIMING FOR LATINO SERVICES AGENCY / TIEMPO PERFECTO PARA UNA AGENCIA DE SERVICIOS LATINOS

Already well known and respected in the Scranton Latino community, last Month Silvana Hogben and her Husband Dennis Hogben (CPA) launched a Latino Services Agency, appropriately named Hagamos Cuentas, a Spanish phrase that means “Let’s figure out our finances”. Conveniently located in Scranton on the corner of 1402 Prospect Ave and Cherry St., their office is clearly meant to welcome all, with its rich colors, art, and icons of Latin America.  Staffed by bi-lingual personnel its purpose is to help the community by providing affordable access to Income Tax preparation services, Passport renewals, driver licenses and registration renewals, airline tickets, small business accounting consulting, notary services and more.

Although the scene outside the Kirby Center in Wilkes-Barre was a sure reminder of the persistent anti-illigal immigration groupies that seem to have no ability to differentiate between Latinos, illegal immigrants, and criminals; the scene inside the Kirby was its usual welcoming environment.  I was there to see the source of the protest, Former Mexican President Vicente Fox, my paisano.
